Abstract

UDP Upstream Throughput was model based on the Signal to Noise Ratio (SNR) observed in IEEE 802.11b WLAN system. This was investigated in various environment while transmitting a varied Quality of Service (QoS) Traffic on the WLAN network. A large amount of field data was obtained experimentally for single user,this was used to develop empirical models for UDPupT and the model developed was validated by experimental data obtained which showed a strong dependence of UDPupT on SNR for single user scenario where sufficient correlation can be established. Our model showed lower RMS errors when compared with the mean from the statistical data, the RMS error observed are 2.928021Mbpsfor single user model respectively. The model developed would help network Engineers and Researchers estimate UDPupT for a given value of SNR.
