Abstract

In this paper, the effect of relapse on the transmission of malaria infection was studied. In other to achieve this, a model for the transmission of malaria infection considering two different populations (Human and Mosquito population) using the S, I, T model was developed. Where S is the susceptible, I is the infected and T denote the treated population.  A positivity analysis was established for the model and the stability of the model at the disease free equilibrium state was established using the lyapunov function. The relationship between the treatment rates to the eradication of the infection after relapse was established. The results were presented graphically and it was discovered that as the rate of relapse increases, the reproduction number increases. The reproduction number decreases with increase in the recovery rate.
