Abstract

The paper considers a genetic algorithm based design for full coverage for a wireless sensor network. Design parameters such as maximum connectivity, maximum coverage, isolated nodes and minimum islands are taken into consideration. The genetic algorithm optimizes the operational positions of the sensor nodes utilizing mesh grid schemes and transmission signal strengths. The algorithm has been implemented in MATLAB using its Genetic Algorithm toolbox along with custom codes. Simulation algorithms which will handle design parameters in an environment have been developed.
