Abstract

Modification of Newton’s method with higher-order convergence is presented. The modification is based on Noor and Khan’s fourth order method. In terms of computation cost, the newmethod requires four evaluation of the function and one evaluation of the first derivative per iteration. Analysis of convergence shown that the method has 8^th-order convergence with efficiency index 1.5157. Some numerical examples have shown that the proposed method performed very well compared with some existing methods.
