Abstract

This paper sets outto establish the susceptibility to slope failure of the walls in the University of Benin gully erosion site. 

Based on slope stability analysis using Bishop’s method in GEOSTUDIO, the deep gully walls ranging from 8 – 10m were found to be unstable. A simplified method using Swedish method is proposed to study same problem. Geotechnical properties of the gully walls were obtained from published works carried out in the soils forming and surrounding the gully at the site.
