Abstract This study investigated the perception of students on the use of computer based testing in the conduct of examinations. A total of 100 questionnaires were administered to students who participated in the pilot test at the Lagos State polytechnic, Nigeria. The finding showed among others, that majority of the respondents validate that CBT can curb examination irregularities and other vices. It was discovered that majority of the student prefer CBT examination than the usual pen on paper traditional method of writing examination. The Chi-square test indicates that the Perception of students in the traditional paper and pencil examination when compared to CBT examination is statistically significant.
