Abstract

Generally, the performance of a solar cell depends on the resistivity of its starting materials. The lower the resistivity, the higher the energy delivered after its generation. The effect of annealing on resistivity of Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) thin film layer deposited through ammonia-free chemical bath deposition was investigatedin this work. Results revealed that there is an improved energy output delivered by layers deposited for 120minutes and annealed at 400oC followed by those annealed at 300oC over anunannealed samples. Results also show that resistivity of CdS layers deposited for 120minutes and annealed at 400oC reduced by 21% and that of 300oC reduced by 20% of resistivity of unannealed samples deposited for 30minutes.
