Abstract

We study alternative mathematical model formulations for the single and two level capacitated facility (plant or warehouse) location problems. In each case, some different formulations are shown to be equivalent. Analysis of dominant relationship amongst the lower bounds produced by these alternative formulations was carried out. A criterion for selecting superior or proper model formulation among the alternative formulations, based on the quality of their respective lower bounds was outlined. Finally, the result of a computational study is reported.
