Abstract

A new formula called diagonally implicit superclass of block backward differentiation formula suitable for solving stiff initial value problems is developed.  The method is of order 2.  It is both zero and A–stable and generates two points at each step of the integration.  A comparison between the method and the 2-point diagonally implicitblock backward differentiation formula (DI2BBDF) is made. The results show that the new method outperformed the DI2BBDF in terms of accuracy.
